Pin of the Week: Cottage Life
This weekend my husband and I were invited to a family friend's getaway home in Collingwood, ON. I can't even explain how amazing the property and the home are; they are simply beyond words. The ability to relax and enjoy ourselves was also beyond words, as it was nice to have a break from the city and breathe the fresh air, talk a walk through the woods, and to relax in front of the fire once darkness set in. It was also great to see the stars well-lit against a truly black sky.
I have always wanted a cottage, and this overnight away simply cemented the idea. The home was only about an hour and a half away from home, and thus the drive was reasonable, given that we only stayed one night. As my husband and I both work full-time jobs in the city, we were never sure whether it would be worthwhile to have a cottage, as we assumed that it would be too taxing to drive up there each weekend; as we commute every week day, getting into the car on the weekend is not something we would relish. But the drive was just long enough that you were well out of the city, but not so long that you were exhausted from the drive before you even arrived.
The picture above is not a photograph of the beautiful home that I stayed at last night, but it is similar in that both this photo and the home are simply luxurious, and both prominently feature wonderful, warm fireplaces. There is nothing as calming and relaxing than sitting in front of a gently roaring fire on a cold evening, knowing that you are cozy and warm. Doing just that reaffirmed my love of the cottage, and all the creature comforts that come along with. One day...
